Sandy the Sandhill Crane stands tall at Trader Joe's Bradenton on Cooper Creek Blvd — the species is a perfect Florida fit. The Florida sandhill crane is a non-migratory subspecies endemic to peninsular Florida and southern Georgia, and Manatee County (where this store sits) is full of them — they're famous for strolling unbothered through neighborhoods, golf courses, and parking lots all over the Bradenton/Sarasota area. Caught here in his pink-and-white tropical Hawaiian shirt, Trader Joe's name tag and signature red forehead patch on full display.
